 nd songwriter Mato Nanji of the Ihanktonwan (Yankton Sioux) Nation\, known
  for fiery guitar work\, soulful vocals\, and songs rooted in Native ident
 ity and reservation life.\n\nBorn and raised on the Yankton Sioux Reservat
 ion in South Dakota\, Indigenous front man Mato Nanji grew up immersed in 
 music through his father\, musician and Native rights advocate Greg Zephie
 r\, and a deep well of classic blues records. In their late teens\, Mato\,
  his brother\, sister\, and cousin formed Indigenous\, developing a powerf
 ul touring presence that led to their award‑winning 1998 debut Things We
  Do and national recognition\, including film festival and Native American
  Music Award honors. Over the years\, Mato has carried the Indigenous name
