Since 1991, Eddie’s Attic has been a popular and intimate live music venue for aspiring and accomplished performing songwriters. Located in Decatur, Georgia, a small artist-friendly town within the metro Atlanta area, the Attic is a true listening room with a superior sound system and acoustics, where customers are asked to silence their phones and actually listen to the songs. Eddie’s Attic draws both fans and artists from all over the world, and continues to be one of the premier music venues in the nation.

And it has been that way from the very beginning.

What started as a bare second-floor space just off Decatur Square became something nobody quite had a name for at the time. A place where the music wasn’t background noise, where the artist on stage deserved your full attention, and where the audience showed up because they genuinely wanted to hear something. Over thirty years and thousands of shows later, that founding idea remains unchanged.

This stage has been an early home to artists who went on to fill arenas, win Grammys, and change the landscape of American music. It has also been the place where countless songwriters you may not have heard of yet played their most honest set to a quiet, full room of people who were really listening. Both things matter equally here.

Our Bi-Annual Open Mic Shootout, now in its 58th edition, has been running for over two decades and remains one of the most beloved traditions in Atlanta’s music community. Each week, new voices earn their shot at the stage. Each Shootout, the room fills with industry professionals, devoted fans, and fellow artists who understand that the next great songwriter could be standing right in front of them.

We do 600 to 700 shows a year. The room holds 177 people. The stage is small, the sound system is exceptional, and the distance between you and the artist performing is measured in feet. That intimacy is not incidental. It is the whole point.

Eddie’s Attic is a community space in the truest sense, rooted in Decatur, open to the world, and devoted to the idea that live music, heard properly, can change a room and sometimes a life.
